Winners of the HYSB Billboard Contest

April 20th, 2020

As you drive around town, be on the lookout for these new billboards, installed by Hamden Youth Services Bureau, and paid for by a grant from the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. The designs were part of a Coronavirus COVID-19 Prevention Billboard Design Contest, sponsored by the HYSB, Hamden Public Schools, and the Hamden Youth Network (with support from TD Bank and OUTFRONT Media).

Students were challenged to create eye catching designs that would provide simple, factual messaging about "Positive Choices" we can be making during this difficult time. The winners receive prize money provided by TD Bank Affinity Program.

1st Place: Priya Kim, an eighth grade student at Hamden Middle School, will receive $750 and her design on at least three billboards.

2nd Place: Brandon Sargolini, a twelfth grade student at Hamden High School, will receive $500 and his design on at least two billboards.

3rd Place: Claire Langdon, a fourth grade student at Bear Path Elementary School, will receive $300 and her design on at least one billboard.

The designs will be displayed around town until June, so be sure to keep an eye out. The Town of Hamden would like to thank all of the students who submitted designs, and plan to have a slideshow available of all designs on line.

Congratulations to the winners, and if you would like more information, please visit the Hamden Youth Services Bureau Facebook Page.
